■■Tomorrow, November 17, there is a Christmas Fayre at St German’s Church Hall, Cardiff. Father Christmas will be in his grotto waiting to welcome children to have their photograph taken with him and there will be a host of stalls selling games, books, cakes, pickles and jams, etc. There will be a grand Christmas raffle and refreshmen­ts including hot dogs and chips with tea, coffee and soft drinks. Doors open at 11am until 1pm. The church hall is next to the Grade I listed Church of St German in Star Street, Adamsdown, and there is free car parking at the side of the hall. Starting at Christmas, St German’s will again be joining with other Cardiff churches to provide a night shelter for the homeless.

■■The next meeting of The Bridgend Branch of Glamorgan Family History Society is on Monday, November 19, at the Len Evans Centre, off Heol Persondy, Aberkenfig. Paul Frame will speak on Dr Richard Price of Tyn Ton, Llangeinor, a Friend of the American Founding Fathers. Doors open 7pm for 7.30pm start. Refreshmen­ts available. All welcome.

■■Parkinson’s Café CF23 is on Monday, November 19, 10.30am to 12.30pm, at Rhydypenna­u Library, Llandennis Road, Cardiff CF23 6EG. People affected by Parkinson’s, their family, carers and friends are welcome. Parkinson’s Café CF3 is on Tuesday, November 20, 11am-12.30pm, at St Mellons HYB, Crickhowel­l Road, St Mellons, Cardiff CF3 0EX. Please note the cafe is back in the refurbishe­d HYB – just across the road from the Enterprise Centre. Local contact for both groups is Roger Harrison (0771966945­8).

■■Christchur­ch Roath Park is holding a Christmas market on Saturday, November 24, 10am-1pm, in the Church Hall, Lake Road North, Cardiff CF23 5QN. Attraction­s include carols and festive songs, face painting, Santa Claus grotto, hot drinks and cake, chocolate fountain, plants, hamper raffle and new gifts. All proceeds from the event will go towards constructi­on costs for a new community hall.
