It’s all go for Rowe in big Cup victory for Radyr

-

CARLING Premier Division outfit AFC Radyr booked their place in the third round of the Lazarou Brothers Challenge Cup after a comfortable 6-1 victory over newcomers to the league, Rumney Rams.

The pick of the Radyr goals was a rare strike from Andrew Rowe, who before coolly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

The other Radyr goals came from Kieran Turner (2), Paul Winter (2) and Nike Benson (1).

The Rams netted a consolation goal through Ryan Hocking.

Fellow Carling Premier Division team Grange Celts also progressed into the next round after a 6-3 win over Glamorgan Vikings. Although the Vikings went down fighting, David Tudor proved to be an inspired substitution for them, as he netted all three of their goals after coming on.

After nine wins out of nine in the Everson Sports Second Division, newcomers Trelai further confirmed their credentials by knocking out Carling Premier Division Cardiff County by 4-0.

Real Caerdydd and the Greek Cypriot Association of Wales played out an epic encounter, with Real eventually progressing following a dramatic 8-7 penalty shoot-out win after the match had finished 5-5 after normal time and extra-time.

Higgs Locksmiths and Plough Albion played out an exciting end-to-end tie at Riverside Park, with Plough eventually winning by 6-4.

Saints, currently in third place in the Luxury Windows First Division, proved to be too powerful for Everson Sports Second Division Thornhill Thunder as they swept to a 7-1 win to secure a place in the third round. Rhys Wood netted a hat-trick for the Saints, with Rhys Brydon (2) and Jonny Taylor (1) adding to the score.

In the other tie, Space Jam Galaxy sent Splott Athletic into orbit with an emphatic 19-5 win.

The Galaxy goals came from Stephen Bell (1), Michael Bull (3), Marcus Jones (1), Joshua Graham (5), Christopher Worsley (4), Christopher Quick (3) and Kane Templeman (2).

After a disappointing start to the season, Cardiff Depot have recorded back-to-back wins to move off the bottom of the Luxury Windows First Division.

Their latest success was a 6-2 win over Cardiff Cossacks. Cardiff Depot’s goals were shared between Mitchell Martyn (2), Jerome Actie (2) and Corey Spencer (2).
