Two held over death of man in woodland

POLICE investigat­ing the suspected murder of a 32-year-old man in St Mellons, Cardiff, have arrested two people.

A 16-year-old boy and 27-year-old man are in custody in connection with the case after the man’s body was found in woodland on Thursday.

The alarm was raised after the body was found near Brookfield Drive at around 7.15am.

Police confirmed the 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

A spokeswoma­n for South Wales Police said: “Officers are looking to trace other individual­s who were involved in the incident.

“Detectives believe that the victim and individual­s involved are known to each other.”

Detective Superinten­dent Richard Jones said: “This is a murder investigat­ion and we’re urging anyone who was in the Brookfield Drive area on Thursday, November 22, from 6.30am7.15am who may have witnessed the incident or has further informatio­n to come forward.”

Police have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area and are asking for anyone with informatio­n to come forward.

The case is not being linked to a second murder investigat­ion taking place in Cardiff at the moment.

On Wednesday, police launched a murder investigat­ion in relation to missing man Mohamed Megherbi. He was last seen on October 9.
