■■Christchur­ch Roath Park are holding a Christmas market today, November 24, between 10am and 1pm in the church hall, Lake Road North, Cardiff CF23 5QN. Attraction­s include carols and festive songs, face painting, Santa Claus’ grotto, hot drinks & cake, chocolate fountain, plants, hamper raffle and new gifts. All proceeds from the event will go towards constructi­on costs for a new community hall.

■■ Tomorrow, November 25, there is a Christmas fayre at The Cornerston­e, opposite St David’s Cathedral, Charles Street, Cardiff, from 12.30pm to 3pm. Cakes, chutney, DVDs, CDs, bric-a-brac, chocolates and sweets, books, Irish coffee, soft toys, bottle stall, crafts, etc. Admission free. Proceeds to cathedral.

■■St Illtyd’s Catholic High School, in partnershi­p with the Eden Bus, are once again holding a Community Christmas Market at the school on Thursday, November 29, 4pm-6pm. Now in its sixth year, this has become a popular annual event in the school calendar. Entertainm­ent, refreshmen­ts, Santa’s grotto and many stalls. Thanks go to Dominos, Rumney and to CJ Constructi­on for sponsorshi­p. All welcome. Free entry. The school address is Newport Road, Rumney, Cardiff, CF3 1XQ.

■■On Saturday, December 1, there will be a grand nearly new sale at St Martins Church, Albany Road, Roath, Cardiff. For sale will be clothes, books, accessorie­s, bric a brac, jewellery, etc. From noon until 2pm. Refreshmen­ts available.

■■The German Lutheran Church, which meets at Conway Road Methodist Church, Romilly Crescent, Canton, is holding its annual advent concert on Sunday, December 2, at 3pm. It will include special singing by the students of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as well as readings and carols for the advent season.
