■■Christchurch Roath Park are holding a Christmas market today, November 24, between 10am and 1pm in the church hall, Lake Road North, Cardiff CF23 5QN. Attractions include carols and festive songs, face painting, Santa Claus’ grotto, hot drinks & cake, chocolate fountain, plants, hamper raffle and new gifts. All proceeds from the event will go towards construction costs for a new community hall.

■■ Tomorrow, November 25, there is a Christmas fayre at The Cornerstone, opposite St David’s Cathedral, Charles Street, Cardiff, from 12.30pm to 3pm. Cakes, chutney, DVDs, CDs, bric-a-brac, chocolates and sweets, books, Irish coffee, soft toys, bottle stall, crafts, etc. Admission free. Proceeds to cathedral.

■■St Illtyd’s Catholic High School, in partnership with the Eden Bus, are once again holding a Community Christmas Market at the school on Thursday, November 29, 4pm-6pm. Now in its sixth year, this has become a popular annual event in the school calendar. Entertainment, refreshments, Santa’s grotto and many stalls. Thanks go to Dominos, Rumney and to CJ Construction for sponsorship. All welcome. Free entry. The school address is Newport Road, Rumney, Cardiff, CF3 1XQ.

■■On Saturday, December 1, there will be a grand nearly new sale at St Martins Church, Albany Road, Roath, Cardiff. For sale will be clothes, books, accessories, bric a brac, jewellery, etc. From noon until 2pm. Refreshments available.

■■The German Lutheran Church, which meets at Conway Road Methodist Church, Romilly Crescent, Canton, is holding its annual advent concert on Sunday, December 2, at 3pm. It will include special singing by the students of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as well as readings and carols for the advent season. Afterwards refreshments will be served and admission is £5. Further information can be obtained by ringing 029 20418168.
