Transport for Wales passengers have complained about getting covered in wet paint after holding on to rails on trains PASSENGERS using Transport for Wales services aren’t having a great time of it at the moment.

Dozens of trains are out of action, and services are being altered and many cancelled causing huge disruption to passengers.

And, on top of that, passengers have reported being left covered in a turquoise paint after holding onto handrails on various services across a number of different dates.

One passenger, Rhiannon Williams, said she got on at Taffs Well, departing at Cardiff Central on Friday but left with her hands and coat covered in paint.

Her tweets read: “On my way to work this morning on a packed train, I had no choice like many, to hold onto the top of the seats. It was sticky, and when I looked, the paint had come off all over my hand and onto the sleeve of my new coat. I’d like to know your comments please.”

She added: “I’ve washed my hands several times and still have paint that won’t come off.”

The paint has now come off her hands, but not her coat, which was also stained, she says.

Another passenger said had been “ruined”. their coat

Customer experience director for Transport for Wales rail services Colin Lea said: “We are concerned to hear of a problems raised and we would like to apologise to any customers affected.

“This is being investigated. Anyone who has been affected should contact our customer relations team who will prioritise these cases.”

They have asked any affected customers to log them at tfwrail.wales/ complaint-submission

As reported in yesterday’s Echo, rail passengers face further disruption this week.

Transport for Wales says an “unprecedented” number of trains are out of service.

Services “on all Cardiff Valleys routes will be reduced” and additional bus services will supplement the train service between Taffs Well/Lisvane & Thornhill and Cardiff Queen Street/Cardiff Central.

Some services from Cardiff Central have been cancelled, including the 6.13am to Cheltenham Spa, the 7.16am to Swansea, and the 11.10am to Llanelli.

Customers are advised to check before they travel and to be aware replacement bus services may be in operation.

A spokesman said: “Transport for Wales are sorry for the inconvenience and assure customers we are working hard to resolve this unprecedented challenge.”
