Stay strong and stable with us Conservatives...

We are finally free from straight bananas and burgundy passports Nigel Baker Roath, Cardiff

AN open letter from the Prime Minister... Me and my semi loyal government have just spent £39bn worth of public money on getting into a worse deal than we had before we left the EU.

After 40 years of whining and two years of fairy tales we are finally free from straight bananas and burgundy passports!

No longer will we be told what to do by mad foreigners (unless they have orange hair).

So back me on this deal and I’ll see if I can get Abba to reform and lots of other goodies!

And if you don’t back me? We could have looney left, unreformed student leader Corbyn in power.

He’d be banning fracking and weapons sales and er... wasting billions on stupid vanity projects not like us...

So don’t waste time on the reds, stay strong and stable with the Tories (at least until the Europe vote)

Nigel Baker Roath, Cardiff PM’s not listening

THERESA May is asking the people to back her Brexit deal, and it’s not about her. How arrogant and shameless can this Prime Minister get, who listens to no one, full stop. At the recent CBI conference she stated she came into politics to help hard-working families.

Yet since attaining power in 2010, all she and the Tories have achieved is to inflict untold misery on families through inhumane policies, endless food banks, universal credit disaster, NHS in meltdown, along with crime out of control.

Baroness Altmann, former Pensions Minister and campaigner, has constantly told governments, that former ASW steelworkers should be paid in full 100% of their pensions, as it was flawed legislation that they are losing 50% or more of their promised pensions.

Does Theresa May listen to this well-respected lady?

No she doesn’t.

Then she has the gall to say trust her. It beggars belief her shamelessness.

Dinas Powis Sovereignty is becoming a fiction

SADLY, my contented 45 years as a European citizen is ominously and tragically coming to an end. This status which I value very highly has to be subjugated to the Brexiteers’ perverse brand of democracy and as a consequence my European status is to be taken away from me.

The Brexiteers’ evolved sacred cow of sovereignty coupled with this flawed brand of democracy has become their tour de force. I say evolved because these sacred cow concepts which they now regurgitate in parrot fashion, conveniently, are additionally espoused in order to disguise their true and sole original reason at the outset for voting to leave, namely, “migration”. At the time they had no inkling of the damage this change will cause to the British economy.

During my 45 years of being a European citizen I have no recollection whatsoever of being oppressed or denied access to any shade of democracy by our European partners. Sovereignty, in the modern democratic global context, has become a little outdated being practised by the more strident of nations. Effectively, it is becoming a fiction. If the Brexiteer’s idea of sovereignty is

being governed by the fools now occupying our political body then give me the governance of a community of nations every time.

As many Brexiteers have belatedly become so demanding of their imaginary lost democratic rights will they now afford me as a British/ European my democratic right to retain my European citizenship by way of dual citizenship.

I have a sister who has resided in Canada for 60 years. The kind of democracy prevailing in Canada has allowed her throughout to retain her status of dual citizenship as a British/Canadian despite the fact that she no longer resides in the UK. Whereas, in contrast, I will continue to reside in Europe (UK is, and always will be a European country) but by virtue of a perverse concept of democracy and sovereignty I must forfeit my European status without redress.

There is grave concern that after Brexit we will continue to be a divided nation.

Therefore, this national dilemma could easily be solved by giving the Remainers, if they so wish, an option of electing for dual citizenship. This should then satisfy the needs of both sides.

The Brexiteers can being exclusively British again and we Remainers can continue our contentment of belonging to the wider human race.

With both sides satisfied we can then become one happy family again! D Williams Rhoose
