Coffee shops’ Santa treat for Barnardo’s
COFFEE shops in Cardiff are running a Secret Santa appeal to help children who might not otherwise get presents this year.
Customers of 10 Starbucks stores across South Wales, run under the franchise of Magic Bean, have set up Christmas trees hung with gift tags, each with the name of a child supported by Barnardo’s Cymru.
Coffee lovers are being encouraged to choose a tag and donate a gift for a child who might otherwise be without gifts on Christmas Day.
Sarah Crawley, Director of Barnardo’s Cymru, said: “Some of the children we support would have nothing to open on Christmas Day if it wasn’t for the generosity of the Magic Bean Starbucks franchises and their customers.
“Their kindness will make such a difference to children who may have had a very tough year and faced many challenges.
“I’d like to say a big thank you on their behalf.”
Leon Esfahani, Magic Bean managing director, said: “We are so proud to be supporting Barnardo’s Cymru for the third year running through our Secret Santa Appeal.
“It is so important to us that no child goes without at Christmas, which is why we are aiming to beat last year’s target and collect 2,000 gifts.
“Christmas can be a stressful time for families financially, so we want to help take the pressure off and ensure many children can have the magical Christmas they deserve.”
Magic Bean Starbucks stores can be found across South Wales including Cardiff, Cwmbran, Swansea, Llanelli and Bridgend.
Local stores that are running the scheme are Newport Road Cardiff (retail parks) and Newport Road Shand Mansion near the city centre.
The McArthur Glen store and Waterton Retail Parks, both in Bridgend, are also taking part.
