A taste of Christmas to come...

From burgers to cocktails, our favourite tasty treats have been given a festive twist. Joshua Knapman reveals what you should be eating this Christmas

IT’S December 1 so Wales is in the full swing of Christmas – we’ve had lights switch-ons, seasonal markets and even bargain shopping days – and now restaurant­s, cafes and stallholde­rs are also pulling out their best yuletide treats.

From warming hot chocolates to Christmass­y pizzas, there’s plenty to choose from.

Here’s a round-up of some of our favourites...

Yorkshire pudding wrap

Yorkshire puddings are obviously a massive part of Christmas – and the Market Deli in Cardiff and filled one with an entire Christmas dinner.

The Yorkshire pudding wraps at this Cardiff Market stall cost £3.50.

Yorkshire pudding mince pie

If a Yorkshire pudding Christmas dinner wrap isn’t enough for you, finish off your meal with a Yorkshire pudding mince pie.

The Cedar Tree Farm carvery in Cardiff has a festive food fusion to end all culinary mash-ups – the Yorkshire pudding mince pie.

Yes, you read that right – the venue’s unique creation comprises a hot mince pie encased in the crispy batter of a Yorkshire pud, drizzled with icing, dusted with icing sugar and served with creamy custard.

The Super Tidy Christmas burger

If anyone knows burgers, it’s Grazing Shed in Cardiff.

And their Super Tidy Christmas burger is back. It’s made of Welsh beef, Camembert, plum chutney, festive slaw, sage and onion stuffing and smoked ham.If that wasn’t enough it’s then placed on tip of some festive fries and served with gravy on the side.

Ferrero Rocher hot chocolate

The classic hot chocolate has been given a makeover – this one has hazelnut syrup and is topped with cream, shiny spray and melted chocolate sauce.

You’ll find it at the bar at Cardiff Christmas Market.

Festive pizza

How do you improve Christmas? By making a festive pizza, of course.

This one from Ffwrnes even has the classic Brussels sprout as a topping.

At the moment there are two versions of this pizza – one veggie and one that has Monmouthsh­ire air dried ham. It costs £6 for the veggie, and £7 for the meat version.

The Grinch’s green eggs and ham

As part of their seasonal menu, Newport’s Parc Pantry is offering a breakfast roll with a twist. Naming it after everyone’s favourite green guy, the Grinch’s green eggs and ham is made up of honeyed ham on brioche with mushrooms in a nut pesto, and a fried egg. It costs £6.

‘Oh Deer’ venison burger

This burger can be found at Kongs in Cardiff as part of their festive menu.

It’s essentiall­y Christmas in a bun – and if you ask nicely they might even through the bow in too.

Bah Hamburger

Meat Bar and Grill in Newport brought this burger out last Christmas and it was a massive hit. It’s sandwiched between two Yorkshire puddings and is back for the festive period.

They’ve also got a new seasonal addition coming to their menu soon, but that’s a secret for now.
