MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION Tonight, Channel 4, 9pm

CIA DIRECTOR Alan Hunley (Alec Baldwin) succeeds in shutting down the Impossible Missions Force (IMF). Subsequent­ly, the hunters become the hunted when a shadowy organisati­on known as the Syndicate, fronted by Solomon Lane (Sean Harris), targets IMF for extinction. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) covertly reunites with colleagues William Brandt (Jeremy Renner), Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and hacker Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) to take on their foes. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is a stylish and slick fifth instalment of the action-packed franchise, bolted together with brio by director Christophe­r McQuarrie and editor Eddie Hamilton.

AFTER causing a bit too much damage while saving the world, a family of superheroe­s is forced to relocate and swap fighting crime for suburban normality. However, Mr Incredible, pictured (voiced by Craig T Nelson) – now plain old Bob Parr – can’t cope with the monotony of working in insurance and signs up for a mysterious assignment on a remote island, unaware he is jumping into a trap.

ENTER THE DRAGON Monday, Channel 5, 11.05pm

ICONIC martial arts movie. When a crime lord holds a martial arts tournament on his private island, Lee (Bruce Lee, pictured) is persuaded by British intelligen­ce to enter in the hope he can gather evidence that it’s a front for drug-traffickin­g and prostituti­on. Lee also learns that the kingpin’s employees include the man who killed his sister. Once on the island, Lee is forced to fight for his life.

Tuesday, Sony Movie Channel, 6.35pm

JULIA Child (Meryl Streep), attends Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in 1940s Paris, and goes on to become the face of a TV series which introduces authentic French cuisine to the kitchens of the US. Meanwhile, in 2002 New York, cook Julie Powell (Amy Adams, pictured) decides to work through all 524 recipes in Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking in 365 days, and pen a blog about it.

THE BLIND SIDE Wednesday, 5*, 10pm

SANDRA BULLOCK stars as crusading southern mom Leigh Anne Tuohy. Driving home one night in Memphis, Tennessee, Leigh spots Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron, pictured with Bullock) wandering along the road and offers the homeless, black teenager a room. The matriarch encourages the lad to improve his grades and chase the possibilit­y of an American football scholarshi­p.

THE USUAL SUSPECTS Thursday, ITV4, 10pm

FIVE criminals – played by Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne (pictured), Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Pollak and Benicio del Toro – meet in a police line-up after they are arrested on suspicion of hijacking a truck. The quintet decide they may as well work together to pull off a job, but was their initial meeting just a coincidenc­e, or is a legendary crime boss, known as Keyser Soze, secretly pulling the strings?
