■■Canton Townswomen Guild will meet tomorrow, Tuesday February 12, at 1.30pm at St Luke’s Church (opposite Victoria Park). Dave Kitchen will talk about “Why the trolleybus doesn’t stop here any more”.

■■The Cardiff Branch of Parkinson’s UK Support Group will be meeting tomorrow, Tuesday February 12, 11am-1pm, at Bethel UR Church Hall, Llangranog Road, Llanishen, Cardiff CF14 5BJ, for the AGM. Rebecca Lydon, volunteer co-ordinator, South Wales Parkinson’s UK, will be attending. AGM will be followed by a quiz. Contact Jo Taylor 07946 977 509.

■■The next social meeting of the Cardiff County Unison Retired Members Branch will be held at the City United Reform Church, Windsor Place, Cardiff, on Wednesday, February 13, from 10.15am until noon. In addition to the AGM there will also be a talk by Mr Mike James on the work undertaken by the Leprosy Hospital in Nepal.

■■On Thursday, February 14, Roath Local History Society will be addressed by Peter Sampson, chairman of the Flat Holm Society and chief tour guide. The title of the talk will be “The Story and History of Flat Holm Island”. The meeting will be held in St Andrew’s Church Hall, Penylan Road. Meet for 7.45pm for refreshmen­ts, before announceme­nts and the lecture at 8pm. Visitors welcome.

■■A Guitar and Voice Concert at Conway Road Methodist Church on Saturday, February 16, 7.30pm, is part of the church’s 150th anniversar­y year programme. Jacqueline Pischorn, born in Austria, is the German language coach to the WNO and the RWCMD as well as being a soprano in her own right. Michael McCartney is American and a member of the WNO chorus as well as being a classical guitarist. Although the song programme will be in German, there will be English translatio­ns in the programme which can be followed. Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 concession­s and include a free programme and light refreshmen­ts in the interval. Tickets available on the door of the church on the junction of Conway Road and Romilly Crescent CF11 9NT.
