Road blocked after bus and car crash

A MAN was taken to hospital after a crash involving a car and bus on a busy Cardiff road.

Emergency services were called to Ely Bridge on Cowbridge Road East just after 7am yesterday.

A white car was involved in a crash with a Cardiff Bus.

The driver of the car was released by fire crews who used specialised cutting equipment.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said that a man had been taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, but his condition was not thought to be serious.

The fire service said fire crews from Cardiff Central and Ely were sent to the scene.

The road was partially blocked until just after 9am and some diversions were put in place.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is now underway.

A Cardiff Bus spokesman said: “We confirm that one of our vehicles was involved in an incident at Ely Bridge this morning.

“We are currently working with the emergency services as part of their ongoing investigations.”
