Boost for the Devils as Bentivogli­o will return

CARDIFF Devils have confirmed the return of Sean Bentivogli­o for his fourth season in Wales.

The 33-year-old joined the club in 2016 after five seasons in Italy.

In his first three seasons with the Devils, the Thorold native has played 216 games across all competitio­ns and recorded 202 points (62 + 140) and won seven trophies.

During his time in Italy with Asiago, Bentivogli­o had the most assists in the Italian league twice (2013 & 2016) as well as the most points in the league (75 points) in 2013.

Before his time in Italy, ‘Benti’ spent a season in Germany with the Augsburger Panther of the DEL.

Before his move to Europe, Benti player over 200 games in the AHL with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders who he played one game for in the 2008-09 season.

Head coach Andrew Lord said of the re-signing of Bentivogli­o: “Benti is a dynamic player with great playmaking ability and an excellent scoring touch.

“He’s formed a superb partnershi­p with Joey Martin the last few seasons and together they’ve been a dominant force for us.

“He’s a great team player with lots of character and above all else a proven winner.

“He is a great skater and competes in every area of the ice.

“Sean’s speed and skill-set make him dangerous every time he is on the ice.

“We are looking forward to him being a key player for us again in the new season.

“He’s a popular figure among the fans here in Cardiff and I’m sure they will all be delighted with the news he will be taking the ice with us again this season.”
