■■The next meeting of the Cardiff Diabetes UK Cymru Group is the Summer Lunch on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 12.30 pm in Yates, Greyfriars Road, Cardiff. This is a chance to relax and put diabetes in perspective with a good meal, drink and great company. Everyone is welcome, diabetic or not. ■■Rhiwbina Ladies Probus meets at the Deri Inn, Rhiwbina, at 10.15am on Monday, August 5 (and first Monday of each month). New members welcome. Talk this meeting is on antiques by Roger Jones.
■■Join us at Gartholwg Lifelong Learning Centre, Church Village, Pontypridd, on Tuesday, August 6, 2.30pm-4.30pm to hear from Angharad Lee (Leeway Productions) and Jamie Berry (Avant Cymru) about their experiences making accessible theatre. Jamie will talk about how Avant Cyrmu supports and safeguards the mental wellbeing of both artists and participants the company works with, and the company members themselves. Having recently conceived, directed and co-produced the groundbreaking production of The Last 5 Years, Angharad will discuss some of the challenges, discoveries and realisations she had as an artist as she moved from the initial idea to the first performance of this accessible musical. The event is free and there will be plenty of time for discussion and questions. BSL interpretation will be provided.
