Blues in renewed talks over Arms Park
CARDIFF Blues have responded to a scathing open letter from their supporters’ Trust urging the region to resolve their “poor relationship” with Cardiff Athletic Club once and for all.
The CF10 Arms Park Rugby Trust Board penned their letter following the settlement of the latest dispute between the Blues and Arms Park owners CAC over outstanding rent for use of the ground.
The Blues staved off the threat of a winding-up order, but the supporters’ Trust called for the two parties to come together and agree a mutually beneficial way forward to avoid further disputes.
The Blues responded to the calls from the Trust, saying: “Cardiff Blues acknowledge the open letter from CF10 Arms Park Rugby Trust and the concerns of all supporters regarding the failure to progress plans for Cardiff Arms Park.
“We are currently engaged in a new round of talks and all partners are committed to using their best endeavours to ensure that the optimum outcomes are achieved for professional and semi-professional rugby at this famous ground.
“We will discuss means via which shared objectives and progress towards achieving these objectives can be better communicated to stakeholders, but reiterate that we shall do so directly and not via social or other media.”
In their letter to the Blues, the Trust outlined the key issues that need addressing, including relationships and behaviour change, establishing trust and confidence between each other; a vision for Cardiff rugby, including the professional team, the semi-pro team and the development of players; the redevelopment of Cardiff Arms Park.
