Vale of Glamorgan results
Pupils outperformed the Welsh and regional averages with 27.1% getting A*s or As. Nearly three quarters (73%) got A* to C grades. More than 3,120 students collected their GCSE results.

Overall GCSE performance in Rhondda Cynon Taff showed improvement, as 60% of learners achieved A*-C grades and 96.7% secured A*-G grades.
The amount of learners awarded the highest grade remained relatively stable with 15.1% achieving A*-A grades.
Councillor Joy Rosser, cabinet member for education and lifelong learning, said: “I would like to congratulate them all on their achievements and wish them all the very best in whichever path they choose to pursue.
“It is also important that we pay tribute to the vital role played by families, teachers and school staff in supporting and encouraging every learner to reach their full potential.”
Bridgend
The county borough’s schools have seen a 1.5% rise in performance at A*-C grades with 63.8% of pupils achieving those grades compared to 62.8% nationally. 19% of entries resulted in A*-A grades.
The performance at A*-G grades increased by 1.2 percentage points to be almost in line with the national figures at this level.
Council Leader Huw David added: “Today is a big day for so many young people and I hope that they have achieved the results they wanted as they look towards options for higher education, training or employment.”
