■■ On Wednesday, September 4, the Cardiff & District Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society is holding its annual Early Flower Show at the Scout Hall in Heol y Bont, Rhiwbina, at 2.30pm. All are welcome and admission is free.
■■Rhydypennau Library will be showing the classic summer film Grease on Thursday, September 12. Doors open at 7pm, the trailers start at 7.20pm with the main film at 7.30pm. ■■South Wales Geologists Association’s field meeting with Simon Braddy takes place on Saturday, September 14, at 10am. Meet outside Manorbier Youth Hostel (SS 080 976 SA70 7TT). There will be a stroll through the Devonian stratigraphy exposed at these two beaches, with particular emphasis on trace fossils and palaeoenvironments. Bring a packed lunch. ■■Throughout August, Ely’s latest fun attraction for children, the big Air-venture, will be holding additional bounce sessions. The biggest and best inflatable area in South Wales is ideal indoor fun activity for all ages and is based at Better Western Leisure Centre, Caerau Lane, CF5 5HJ. Hourly sessions will run on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Mondays during the school holidays and every day in the final week of August.
