Mowbray expects a tough task

TONY Mowbray is expecting a difficult challenge for his side when Cardiff City visit Ewood Park this afternoon, but is hopeful that his side can complete a fine week with another three-point haul.

It’s been a good week for Mowbray’s men so far, with battling 1-0 victories over Middlesbrough and Hull City already this week.

Cardiff come into the encounter on the back of a late win over Huddersfield Town at the Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday night, and Mowbray knows it will be a tricky test against Neil Warnock’s side.

“It’s an opportunity, but it’s going to be a tough game against a Cardiff side who were in the Premier League last season,” Mowbray told iFollow Rovers.

“It was interesting to follow their journey last season and they made a real fist of that campaign.

“We have to expect a tough, physical test from Cardiff, and you know what you’ll get from Neil’s teams in terms of work ethic and desire.

“So we’re expecting a tough game, but we know if we’re at our very best and improve in certain aspects, we can score a few goals and cause them problems.

“Sometimes the teams that you know all about, whether it’s Manchester City or Cardiff, you know what’s coming, but they are difficult games.

“They have some very good players and aren’t just a direct team. They have Junior Hoilett, who scored the winner for them in midweek, and Joe Bennett, who I know very well from my time at Middlesbrough.

“It’s a tough game for us, but it’s one that we should look forward to,” added the former centre-half.

“The team will go into the game full of confidence. We’re mindful of their threats, but we have to believe in the way we want to play and believe that we can create chances in the game.”
