■■ The next meeting of the Cardiff Diabetes UK Cymru Group is on Wednesday, September 4, at 7.30pm in the Bethel Whitchurch Community Hall, off Penlline Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff, CF14 2AA. This month’s guest speaker is Mr Josh James from Diabetes UK Cymru, talking about Diabetes and Mental Health. There will be plenty of chances to ask questions and talk to members about any concerns. Everyone is welcome, diabetic or not. Light refreshmen­ts available. ■■On Wednesday, September 4, Conway 50+ starts again after the August break. There will be lively music and fun provided by the Ukulele Nights. They play for free but there will be a donation to their chosen charity. It is a great programme of songs which will bring back happy memories. The 50+ group is held in the Conway Church Hall, entrance on Romilly Crescent, Cardiff CF11 9NT (bus route 61). Entrance is £2 which includes tea/coffee & biscuits. The hall is open from 10.15am and the session starts at 10.45am. This is a community group run entirely by volunteers. All over-50s welcome, and carers no matter what age. ■■On Wednesday, September 4, the Cardiff & District Chrysanthe­mum and Dahlia Society is holding its annual Early Flower Show at the Scout Hall in Heol y Bont, Rhiwbina, at 2.30pm. All are welcome and admission is free.

■■The first book signing for new publicatio­n Ghosts of Glamorgan by Karl-James Langford will be taking place at Nickleby’s bookshop, Pound Lane, Llantwit Major, on Wednesday, September 18, at 7pm. There will be a short talk by the author on some of the 17 original stories within the publicatio­n.
