RYAN Giggs believes Manchester United are the perfect club to keep Daniel James grounded following his rapid rise in recent months.

The Wales youngster has netted three goals in four Premier League appearances since joining the Red Devils from Swansea in the summer.

But Giggs – who played a significant part in James’ move to Old Trafford earlier this year – believes James is one of many who can step up to ease the pressure on Gareth Bale with Wales, adding that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is more than capable of looking after the young winger at club level.

“I’ve not been surprised, he’s had a good pre-season and when you sign for a new club, that’s what you want,” the Wales boss said.

“When you score, it gives you a lift. It doesn’t matter who you are in the world or what kind of ability you have. Confidence is everything and it builds. We all know what he’s capable of, what he’s done especially over the last eight or nine months, he just keeps getting better and better.

“He’s at the right club, Ole will know how to look after him and know when to play him. It’s a club where they love wingers and players who can excite fans. I’m pleased for him and he’s got the right character. He’s really down to earth. He’s at the right club regarding to keeping his feet on the ground.

“It’s not only about Gareth. The pressure is always on Gareth, but I want to bring that pressure off Gareth because we can’t rely on him in every game. We’ve got other talented players in the squad.”

Wales take on Azerbaijan in a Euro 2020 qualifier tonight before hosting Belarus in a friendly at Cardiff City Stadium three days later.

Ben Woodburn has struggled with illness in the build-up to the Azerbaijan test and is unlikely to be risked, but otherwise, Giggs has a full squad to choose from.
