■The Bridgend branch of the Glamorgan Family History Society is holding the branch AGM on Monday, September 16, at the Len Evans centre off Heol Persondy, Aberkenfig CF32 9RF. The speaker will be Mr John R James, whose talk will be on memories. Doors open at 7pm with the meeting to start 7.30pm. Refreshments available – all welcome.

■A 50p sale will be held in the All Saints Lesser Hall, Victoria Square, Penarth, on Wednesday, September 18, from 2pm until 3.30pm. Entry 50p. All proceeds to charity.

■There is talk on 10 aspects of churches painted by Glyn Pooley in an exhibition at All Saint’s Church in Barry on Wednesday, September 25, for an hour starting at 10.45am. ■The Marie Curie Cardiff & Vale Hospice is celebrating 60 years this year so the fundraising group has organised a Diamond Ball on Saturday, October 19, at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel.
