His troops after for the Wallabies

match, the way they’ve trained. The way the senior players have stepped up. Everyone was really looking forward to getting out on the pitch tonight.

Q: Warren, how different was it for you without Rob today?

WG: It was definitely strange. You’ve just got to give Stephen as much support as you possibly can.

He’s fitted in seamlessly. He’s been doing a good job.

It was a little bit strange but you have to think and move forward.

Q: Warren, did you hold some moves back, it looked like you might have in the second half?

WG: I don’t think we tried to hide any moves in the second half.

We spoke at half time about being smart. In the second half, the ball got slippery and there was a bit of moisture. Handling for both teams was quite tough.

In the first half I thought we were excellent, as was our ball retention.

I think what probably hurt Georgia was the amount of turnovers that they had in that first half.

That allowed us a lot of opportunities to get into their half and take chances.

We have a few things up our sleeve that we haven’t shown yet, that will hopefully be ready for next week.

It will be important that we have a good training week preparing for Australia.

It’s tough with a six-day turnaround, and I know all teams have to face it at some point in this competition, the short turnaround period.

We’ve got to make sure we recover well and then start really planning and looking forward to what will be a tough fixture against Australia.

Q: Massive game on Sunday, how much confidence do you take from beating them last time out?

I think we can take a lot of confidence from that, they’re a tough side.

With teams at the top of international rugby you can have a really good performance... we saw the Australia play exceptionally well against the All Blacks in Perth, then they were well beaten the next week. That’s the way the modern game goes. We won a tight contest in the autumn last year.

We’ve had some really tight games with them over the years. We’ve got to go into the game with confidence. We tend to get better as tournaments go on. We build on confidence.

We’re pleased with the start and there is a lot of room for us to improve. There are a few things to tidy up on, the breakdown and a few other things. That will be our focus this week.
