WARNOCK REMAINS FAR FROM HAPPY AT OUTCOME

-

CARDIFF City boss Neil Warnock left Hull a frustrated man even though his Bluebirds stretched their unbeaten run to six matches.

Cardiff twice came from behind to grab a 2-2 draw, with Robert Glatzel netting in the first half and Danny Ward deep into injury time.

But Warnock wasn’t a happy man at the final whistle, bemoaning missed chances, two sloppy goals his side conceded and refereeing decisions by Jarred Gillett.

“I’ve never been so disappointed to equalise after 90 minutes, to be honest,” said Warnock after the game.

“I felt we should have been out of sight by half-time, should have won it comfortably in the second half, yet we’re scrapping for an equaliser.

“It shows the players have got character with the way they’ve come back, but I’m totally disappointed if I’m honest. We’ve thrown points away where I thought we could start today away from home, get maximum points.

“There’s nothing I’ve seen to change my mind on that.”

Cardiff are still without an away win in the Championship but did manage to rescue a point and climb a little up the table.

Kamil Grosicki’s first-half free-kick put the hosts ahead before Glatzel levelled. Hull thought they had won it when Jordy de Wijs headed in from another set-piece, before Ward popped up for the injury-time drama.

“From two free-kicks we’ve given silly goals away,” continued Warnock. “I’ve just said to the referee he’s given free-kicks against our players on the goalkeeper and at corners, yet he doesn’t see their man block Aden Flint which gives them a free header for the second goal.

“I suppose that’s just education, he’ll learn from that. He’s looking at the ball rather than Flint being blocked.

“Credit to us, though. We chucked the kitchen sink up there towards the end and it was nice to see Danny come on and get one.”

Asked about Cardiff’s direct style of play, Warnock responded: “A lot of balls went in the box, but I think we played some good football in the first half as well.

“Sometimes I don’t want them to take these big throws. I’m shouting at them to play because I thought we had the beating of Hull around the box with the wide players. Marlon Pack makes us play more, it was good to have him back today. We’re a different side when he plays. It’s nice to keep that ball and recycle it.”

The Bluebirds boss also reserved special words for Leandro Bacuna, who lined up next to Pack and Joe Ralls in midfield.

“He got slaughtered early on in his career for us. They always pick on one don’t they, but he’s been outstanding the last four to five matches,” continued Warnock. “He was my man of the match again today and has been the last few weeks. He covered every blade of grass.”

Next up for Cardiff are in-form QPR and West Brom, before they head into the international break.

And Warnock warned: “One of these days we’ll take our opportunities and put a few goals past people. We’re not having much luck around the box, then conceding silly goals like the ones we did up here.

“But we’re six games undefeated. You have to start on a run like that. It’s a tough league, this Championship.”
