CONNAH’S Quay Nomads battled back from behind to win 2-1 at bottom side Carmarthen Town in the JD Cymru Premier.

Liam Thomas gave winless Carmarthen the lead on 11 minutes before Michael Bakare levelled matters.

The same player then grabbed what proved to be the decisive goal just after the hour when he converted following a Nathan Woolfe cross.

The Nomads, in second place, are four points back on leaders Barry Town United, who march on at the top after coming away from Newtown with a 3-2 victory.

Sion Spence netted his first goal for the Linnets to open the scoring on 16 minutes but that was cancelled out by Joe Kenton for the Robins seven minutes later.

The visitors went back in front on 37 minutes when substitute Keyon Reffell, having replaced the injured Curtis Watkins, made it 2-1 before Kayne McLaggon’s penalty gave Barry a two-goal cushion at the break.

Alex Fletcher pulled one back for Newtown, but it could not prevent Gavin Chesterfield’s unbeaten side from securing win number seven.

The other side with an unbeaten record still intact are Cardiff Met, but they had to settle for a point following a 1-1 draw at Airbus UK Broughton.

A leveller for Airbus – a Joel Edwards own goal – three minutes from time denied Met all three points.

They had gone in front through Eliot Evans’s penalty on 28 minutes after Charlie Corsby had been brought down by goalkeeper Lewis Hall.

Caernarfon Town extended their unbeaten league run to eight matches as they beat champions The New Saints 1-0 at the Oval. Jamie Breese’s second-half goal secured a memorable win for the Cofis were 3-0 winners at Cefn Druids thanks to first-half goals from Lassana Mendes, Henry Jones and Chris Venables.

A 90th-minute leveller from Kostya Georgievsky earned Penybont a 1-1 draw with Aberystwyth Town. Wes Baynes got Aberystwyth’s goal. THIS was a morale-boosting win for Merthyr Town, who had lost their last three games by the odd goal.

The opening goal arrived on three minutes, Jarrad Wright unmarked at the far post and heading in Ben Swallow’s corner.

Ian Traylor got the second after collecting Adam Davies’ long ball before lobbing visiting goalkeeper Cameron Plain from 25 yards.

Wimborne pulled a goal back 10 minutes after the restart, Joseph Byrne tapping home after Merthyr failed to clear a cross.

Merthyr secured victory in the last few minutes of normal time. Prosser played a neat 1-2 with Traylor before firing home.
