A USED syringe was found planted in mud with its needle pointing upwards in an alleyway in Bridgend, it has been claimed.

The needle was found in Maes-YFelin in Wildmill.

A 25-year-old man, who lives in Wildmill and has asked not to be named, has described the discovery, which he made last Thursday, as “disgusting”.

Talking about when he found the needle, he said: “Me and my partner have just had a baby on September 29, right now my partner is staying at her parents.

“As my partner was dealing with the baby, I had gone outside for a cigarette. As I was standing with my mate talking we noticed the needle.

“Someone placed a needle the wrong way up in the mud for people to step on it and it was almost me.

“The first thing I done was take pictures of it and uploaded them for my family and friends to be aware that it is there.”

He then decided to cover the needle by putting an empty bottle over it.

“I phoned 101 and could not get an answer, so I phoned 999 and told them as much as this is not an emergency, but in its own nature it is an emergency.

“So I explained what I had found, they told me to contact the local council and have them come and remove it.

“We did try but we could not get an answer from them, later on in the night as I was walking back into my partner’s parents’ house I saw their neighbour.

“I thought it would be important to tell them about it as their daughter and son was running up and down the alley, this neighbour has an autistic daughter.”

He stressed that his main worry was the possibility of children finding the needle.

He added: “Anything can happen to these kids or myself or even my child. I just find it disgusting how the heroin in Wildmill is taking over.

“Since telling the neighbour I came back on Friday morning and the needle had been put inside a Lucozade bottle and taped around the top and the neighbour messaged me to say that she is going to contact someone to remove it.”
