Family reunion may not be the one Thomas Markle pictured

-

SO Meghan Markle could finally come face-to-face with her estranged father for the first time in four years in, of all places, a British courtroom.

At the weekend Thomas Markle Snr spoke out as to why he felt forced to release details of a private letter his daughter sent to him, which is now at the centre of a bitter UK legal battle.

The Duchess of Sussex is suing the Mail on Sunday for publishing the highly personal note she wrote to her estranged father.

However, sources close to Mr Markle say he is prepared to travel to the UK to defend his actions, meaning the pair could face each other in court.

This is yet another twist in the bitter estrangement between Meghan and her father, despite how close they once were.

The retired Hollywood lighting director, who lives in Rosarito, Mexico, failed to walk the Duchess, 38, down the aisle at her wedding in Windsor Castle in May last year after suffering a heart attack.

The 75-year-old was hospitalised days after he was exposed for faking pictures with the paparazzi.

The pair have not seen each other since 2015 – a year before Meghan met and began dating Harry. He has never met his son-in-law or his grandson, Archie.

The Duchess is facing claims she invaded her own privacy after she allegedly sanctioned five of her US friends to provide some details of the letter’s contents to an American celebrity magazine.

She could now be forced to swear on oath whether she did or didn’t.

It is tragic that Mr Markle didn’t come to London to walk Meghan down the aisle in front of the Queen last year.

Even more tragic is that his first brush with anything royal could be in one of Her Majesty’s courts.
