■■The next meeting of the Bridgend branch of the Glamorgan family History Society is on Monday, October 21, at The Len Evans Centre, off Heol Persondy, Aberkenfig CF32 9RF. Speaker will be Mr Dean Powell on “Land of my Father’s”. Doors open 7pm, talk to start 7.30pm with refreshmen­ts available. All welcome.

■■St Philip Evans Union of Catholic Mothers are holding a coffee morning on Tuesday, October 22, 10am until noon, at St Philip Evans Church Hall, Llanedeyrn Drive, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff CF23. Tickets £2.50 or pay at the door. Everyone welcome.

■■ On Thursday, October 24, at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm) in St Mary’s Church, Whitchurch, Cardiff, there will be a concert ‘All things bright and beautiful’. Featuring contempora­ry, classical and modern music performed by the South Wales Clarinet Choir and Treble C. Tickets available at the door priced £5. The programme consists of music by Mozart, Handel, Paul Simon (Bridge Over Troubled Water), Lennon and McCartney (Blackbird), John Hughes (Calon Lân), Shostakovi­ch etc. Refreshmen­ts available.

■■An art and craft fair (with a hint of Christmas) is to be held on Saturday, October 26, at Roath Church House, Waterloo Road, Roath CF23 5AD, from 2pm to 4pm. Original paintings, ceramics, jewellery and much more will be available for a unique present. Tea and cakes available. Entry is free.
