■■A table-top sale to raise funds for ‘Y Bwthyn’ is being held at Efail Isaf Village Hall on Saturday, November 16, from 9.30am until noon. As well as a raffle and cake stall there will be all kinds of items for sale from household items to books, games, jewellery, clothing, bric-a-brac, collectabl­es, household goods, Christmas items, gifts and much more.

■■On Saturday, November 16, there will be a Christmas Fayre in St German’s Church Hall, in Adamsdown, Cardiff. Father Christmas will be in his grotto waiting to welcome children to have their photograph taken with him and there will be a host of stalls selling games, books, bottles, cakes, pickles and jams. There will be a grand Christmas raffle and refreshmen­ts including hot dogs and chips with tea, coffee and soft drinks. Open from 11am until 1pm. The church hall is next to the Grade I Listed Church of St German, in Star Street, Adamsdown, Cardiff and there is free parking at the side of the church hall. St German’s will again be joining with a number of other Cardiff churches to provide a night shelter for the homeless through the winter months.

■■Parkinson’s Café CF23 is being held on Monday, November 18, from 10.30am until 12.30pm, at Rhydypenna­u Library, Llandennis Road, Cardiff, CF23 6EG. People affected by Parkinson’s, their family, carers and friends are welcome. Join for friendship, support, informatio­n sharing, coffee, tea, cake, a biscuit and a laugh. ■■South Wales Geologists Associatio­n lecture with Professor John Cope of Cardiff University and the National Museum of Wales takes place on Saturday, November 23, at 11am. His talk will be ‘The highest sea-levels of all time and the 5 million years that saw the birth of modern Britain’, and takes place in Swansea University’s Wallace Building on the Singleton Park site.
