Residents celebrate postcode lottery win

-

RESIDENTS of one street in South Wales were celebrating this week after winning £30,000 each in the People’s Postcode loterry.

The neighbours of Hartford Street, Sirhowy, landed the lump sum when their postcode was announced as a winner last Sunday.

Fellow Welshman and People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson was on hand to present the winners with their prize.

Among the winners was 30-year-old teaching assistant Rhiannon Fryatt, who was over the moon to win the prize after taking part in the lottery for just two months.

She said: “This is surreal – I was not expecting that at all. My husband Steven doesn’t even know I play so it will be an even bigger surprise for him.

“We just moved into this house in April, so this is going to give us the perfect first Christmas in our new home. It means the world to us. I’d love to take my two kids to Disneyland in Paris next year as well.”

Other winners included recently retired Barbara Berry, 73, who couldn’t believe her luck when she received the knock on the door, saying: “This is something that I never thought would happen to me – it’s an amazing amount of money, and a wonderful retirement present.

“I’ve spent it already in my head. Christmas is just around the corner so the family will all benefit, and there will be a nice present for them in their Christmas stockings this year, that’s for sure.”

While the remaining three winners were not at home to collect their cheques, they will undoubtedly be happy to see the prize paid into their bank account over the coming days.
