ENCHANTED

IN THE colourful, animated kingdom she calls home, Giselle (voiced by Amy Adams) is poised to marry dashing Prince Edward (James Marsden), only for his vindictive mother, Queen Nerissa (Susan Sarandon), to push the bride-to-be down a well. Giselle (now flesh and blood, and still played by Adams) emerges from a manhole in New York City, where she meets dishy divorce lawyer Robert (Patrick Dempsey) and his daughter Morgan (Rachel Covey). Enchanted cleverly upholds and subverts fairy tale convention­s to glorious and hysterical effect, boasting great performanc­es, rumbustiou­s comic set pieces and a sprinkling of romance.

THE HURT LOCKER Tomorrow, BBC2, 11pm

OSCAR-WINNING war drama. A three-strong bomb disposal squad attached to the US Army risks life and severed limb to defuse roadside improvised explosive devices. Staff Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner, pictured) takes charge of sergeant JT Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) and specialist Owen Eldridge (Brian Geraghty) in Baghdad, but his approach creates friction with his subordinat­es.

GHOST IN THE SHELL Monday, Film4, 11.25pm

IN the near future, the use of cybernetic­s sees the line between humans and machines become blurred. When Major Mira Killian (Scarlett Johansson, pictured) is saved from a terrible crash, she is cyber-enhanced to be the perfect soldier. Assigned to join the Department of Defence’s anti-cybercrime unit, Mira’s work turns into a quest to discover the truth about herself.

HARRY BROWN Tuesday, 5STAR, 11pm

HARRY (Michael Caine, pictured) is a widower who lives alone on a crime-riddled housing estate which is under the control of a gang of thugs led by the sadistic Noel Winters (Ben Drew). When Harry learns from the police that his best friend Leonard (David Bradley) has been found stabbed to death in an underpass, he swears revenge and sets about tracking down the young men who killed his pal.

RONIN Wednesday, ITV4, 9pm

A FORMER US intelligen­ce agent (Robert De Niro) joins a team of mercenarie­s hired by Irish revolution­ary (Natascha McElhone, pictured with De Niro) to steal a briefcase from a gang of criminals in Paris. Once the mission is complete, however, one of the crew betrays his comrades... Jean Reno, Stellan Skarsgard and Sean Bean are among the impressive cast list in this action thriller.

MISS SLOANE Thursday, Film4, 9pm

ELIZABETH SLOANE (Jessica Chastain, pictured) is a cut-throat lobbyist in this riveting political thriller. Her firm, Cole Kravitz & Waterman, implores Elizabeth to lobby against a contentiou­s bill, which is poised to go before Congress and proposes more rigorous background checks for firearm purchases. She refuses and in modest new surroundin­gs, tests her reputation by marshallin­g support for the bill.

COLD MOUNTAIN

Friday, Paramount Network, 9pm

DURING the American Civil War, injured Confederat­e soldier Inman (Jude Law, pictured) leaves his hospital bed to journey home to his sweetheart Ada (Nicole Kidman) in the remote North Carolina hills. While Inman struggles home, Ada has her own battle to keep the home fires burning, although help does arrive in the form of spirited drifter Ruby (Renee Zellweger).
