BEST OF THE REST

-

OUR COAST BBC2, 8.30pm

IT’S not all stunning vistas in this series exploring our spectacular coastline – there’s unfortunately a lot of trash, too.

Shocking scenes in this final episode reveal the levels of usually unseen debris that wash up on the coast.

Presenter Mehreen Baig is on the South Western coast of Scotland, where she takes to the skies with former RAF pilot Archie Liggat.

He now uses his flying skills to photograph and document large-scale pollution hidden along the coastline.

Teams then use a map to pinpoint an area that they can help clean up, picking up all sorts, from a plastic doll’s head to nets and food wrappers.

Meanwhile, Adrian Chiles visits the beautiful harbour of Portpatrick to meet local hero Calum Currie, who has persuaded his community to buy shares in the town’s harbour - revitalising it for all who live there.

Elsewhere, there are insights into rare birdlife, cold-smoking Scottish salmon and even the setting for a hit movie.

THE LAST LEG Channel 4, 10pm

BROTHER and sister duo Daisy May and Charlie Cooper are the hilarious guests on tonight’s edition of the newsy entertainment show.

They are the creators, writers and stars of BBC mockumentary This Country, which is now back for a third series. Daisy May is also currently starring in Sky One comedy Avenue 5.

No doubt their funny bones will fit right in with host Adam Hills and (un) willing sidekicks, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker.

As usual the trio will be taking apart the week’s news. There will probably also be a rant from Adam at some point, and expect ridiculous, topical games.

As ever, no subject is off limits and they won’t hold back on saying what they really think.
