NEW PHONES FROM SONY

A YEAR on from the introduction of its tall-and-thin line-up of Xperia phones, Sony has updated its offering with new models.

Top of the line is the Xperia 1 II – which will be available in a 5G model. There’s also wireless charging and the return of a headphone jack.

The three-lens camera array disappoints on the face of it, with just 12MP sensors. But Sony’s expertise in pro camera technology allows some headline features, such as the ability to shoot 20fps.

There’s a mid-range phone, too – the Xperia 10 II, which has a 6in screen, and a slightly slower processor than its big brother.

There are also three cameras, but two only have 8MP sensors.

Lastly, there’s also a low-end phone – the Xperia L4 – offering a 13MP main lens, 5MP ultra-wide lens and 2MP depth camera.

All three sport Sony’s innovative 21:9 screen aspect ratio, which is perfect for watching films.

No prices are available yet, but the phones will launch this spring.

DISNEY+ DEAL

THE launch of Disney+, the new subscription video streaming service from the Magic Kingdom, draws near.

Next month Disney will turn on the service in the UK, and begin streaming video from its megafranchises – like Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel, and National Geographic… as well, of course, as video from Disney itself.

The service will launch on March 24, but you can sign up ahead of that date and save… until launch, a 12-month subscription will cost £49.99 instead of the usual £59.99.

Among the content available will be never-before-seen films and TV shows that will only be available on the Disney+ platform.

One of the most anticipated is the Star Wars-based TV series The Mandalorian, which has garnered rave reviews in the US since its debut last year.
