Time to apply yourself

IF YOU WANT TO STAY FOCUSED ON A TASK, THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT – OF COURSE

-

MOLESKINE JOURNEY (iOS) They say:

Designed for creative minds, independent workers, audacious backpackers, and free spirits,

Moleskine Journey is the first app that blends productivity tools with wellness tracking features to help you get stuff done and find inner balance every day.

We say: When someone says their app was designed for “creative minds” you know you’re in for an experience. And Moleskine’s Journey does not disappoint.

It’s actually many apps in one – a calendar, and to-do list, a goal-tracker, and a daily journal.

In keeping all these functions together, it does add complexity not found in individual apps, but it also allows you to link all the elements together for a cohesive overview of your direction of travel.

It won’t work for everybody, and it is a little, well, odd – but if it chimes with your personality, it may well be the productivity app you’ve been waiting for. There’s a free trial, so it can’t hurt to give it a go.

Cost: Free with in-app purchases – subscription costs £3.99/pm or £30.99/year

TODOIST

(iOS and Android) They say:

Todoist is used by 20 million people to organize, plan and collaborate on projects, both big and small. Use Todoist to: Capture and organise tasks the moment they pop into your head; Remember deadlines with reminders and due dates; Build lasting habits with recurring due dates like “every Monday”; Collaborate on projects by assigning tasks to others. We say: Just about the king of all to-do apps, Todoist features a host of pro features

that will help you organise and fly through projects as efficiently as possible.

A subscription allows you to run the service across all platforms, from smartwatches to desktop computers, as well as on the go with your smartphone.

It integrates with the services you already use, too, as well as offering collaboration with others – so you can organise your team as well as yourself. COST: Free with in-app purchases – subscriptions cost £3.99/month or £35.99/year

FANTASTICAL (iOS)

They say: Fantastical is the award-winning calendar and tasks app with features such as beautiful Day, Week, Month, and Year views, natural language parsing, and much more.

We say: Fantastical is another all-in-one app, which allows you to manage your calendars and tasks in a unified view, with lots of beautifully-rendered and intuitive features – like the fact you can speak to it in natural language and it will turn your request into an event or task. A handy weather forecast is included so you can see at a glance if that event you’ve scheduled outdoors is going to be a damp squib or not.

The third version of Fantastical is featurepacked and runs on all Apple platforms since the app moved to a subscription system. That didn’t go down will with fans, but as I always say, if you want software this good, you have to pay the people who make it, enough to make it worth their while. Cost: Free with in-app purchases – subscriptions £39/year, or £4.49/month
