How about taking some positives from this crisis...

THERE have been a lot of negative letters regarding the pandemic we are in the midst of, armchair experts giving their opinions. I thought I would give some positives for a change.

Being home all day, every day has enabled me to see the wildlife.

There are a pair of sparrows nesting in a box on the wall, flying back and forth with bits of twigs etc in their beaks.

The same thing with a pair of wood pigeons at the front of the house.

Something I would have missed if not home and only discovering once the chicks had hatched.

Getting jobs done around the house which get put off due to lack of time are now well on their way to completion.

Cupboards and drawers have never been so tidy.

The garden has been well attended to.

A weed only has to just pop its head up and it gets annihilated within a day or two.

I am now waiting for it to rain so I can go on a slug and snail safari and taking bets as to how many I will capture.

I am now well acquainted with The Real Housewives from across the world thanks to the television. What a way to live.

I can’t help wondering how they are coping with the pandemic and lockdown.

Did they panic-buy expensive handbags instead of toilet rolls?

It is hard being stuck at home all day every day but it has to be done. I am grateful for still being alive, having healthy and safe family, friends and neighbours who I am looking forward to seeing and hugging when this is all over.

To the cretins who have been disregarding the advice to stay home unless necessary, think how lucky you are to have an NHS second to none. Think about your family and friends who you are putting at risk.

Stop and look around you and ask yourself “what if all this was gone?”
