SOME LIKE IT HOT Today, BBC2, 3.40pm

BILYY WILDER’S comedy is an absolute classic. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are superb as the musicians whose lives are endangered after they witness a gangland shooting, and they try to make a quick getaway by donning drag and hiding out in an all-girl jazz band. Unfortunately, the presence of a curvaceous singer (Marilyn Monroe) and an amorous millionaire make it increasingly difficult to keep up the pretence. Some Like It Hot is regularly voted one of the funniest films ever made, and with a fantastic script and perfect cast it’s easy to see why.

JAWS Tomorrow, ITV4, 9pm

IT’S 45 years old, but Steven Spielberg’s first blockbuster has lost none of its bite. Roy Scheider is Brody, a police chief on New England’s Amity Island, dealing with a great white shark. With the aid of a wealthy expert (Richard Dreyfuss, left with Scheider) and a salty hunter (Robert Shaw), Brody heads off to kill the beast. A masterpiece of direction.

PAL JOEY Monday, BBC2, 2.45pm

THIS golden oldie sees Frank Sinatra (left, with Barbara Nichols) as a singer with dreams of owning his own nightclub. He is torn between two women – a wealthy socialite, who he hopes will finance the enterprise, and a naive chorus girl. With songs including The Lady Is a Tramp, My Funny Valentine and Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered, this is one not to be missed.

MOONRAKER Tuesday, ITV4, 9pm

JAMES BOND takes on rich industrialist Hugo Drax, who the British government believe is responsible for stealing one of his own space shuttles. But 007’s mission reveals a plot so deadly that it could wipe out life on Earth. With a divine John Barry score, Roger Moore stars with Lois Chiles as the Bond girl Dr Holly Goodhead (both pictured left).

ENOUGH SAID Wednesday, Film4, 7.10pm

SOPRANOS actor James Gandolfini makes his final movie appearance in this wonderful romantic comedy. Julia Louis-Dreyfus (left with Gandolfini) co-stars as Eva, a massage therapist embarking on a new romance with TV archivist Albert (Gandolfini). Eva is also wooing a new client, celebrated poet Marianne, who turns about to be Albert’s ex wife.

PAPER TOWNS Thursday, Film4, 6.50pm

BASED on the book by John Green, who also penned The Fault in Our Stars, this is a bittersweet coming-of-age story. Nat Wolff is a high school student in love with his neighbour (Cara Delevingne, both pictured), but has never mustered the courage to declare his true feelings. Out of the blue, she asks him to help her wreak revenge on her cheating boyfriend.
