CARDIFF City will restart the 2019-20 Championship campaign against league leaders Leeds United on June 21.

The Bluebirds were due to face Marcelo Bielsa’s side in March, before the season was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, EFL bosses have given the green light for the Championship to resume later this month, with all games to be played behind closed doors.

And it has been confirmed that Neil Harris’ side will face table toppers Leeds in their first post-lockdown encounter at the scheduled kick-off time of 12pm on Sunday, June 21 in a game that will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

All 24 sides in the second tier have just nine matches remaining, with Cardiff currently ninth, two points behind the top six.

Unlike the Premier League, there are no sides in the Championship with games in hand, meaning league chiefs felt it was best for the previous order of fixtures to remain intact.

In addition to Leeds, Cardiff will play Preston – a game that will also be on Sky Sports – and Charlton before the end of June.

The Bluebirds will then face Bristol City, Blackburn, Fulham, Derby, Middlesbrough and Hull in July, with the play-off final pencilled in to take place on August 2 or 3.

The first match of the restart sees Brentford host promotion rivals Fulham at Griffin Park on Saturday, June 20. The game will be shown

Sky Sports will show 45 EFL games live over the remaining weeks of the campaign.

TItey will have a total of 30 Championship fixtures, while it will show all 15 play-off games from its three divisions.
