Two arrested after reports of street fight

POLICE were called to the scene of an alleged fight on a Cardiff street amid reports that one person had a knife.

There was a heavy police presence in the Adamsdown area of the city after emergency services were called just after 9.30am yesterday.

South Wales Police officers said they were called to reports of a fight and they received reports that one person had a knife.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of affray and two men were treated by paramedics at the scene on the junction of Theodora Street and Broadway.

One of the men arrested in connection with the incident was yesterday receiving treatment at the University Hospital of Wales.

A police spokeswoma­n said that were no suggestion­s anyone had been seriously injured in the incident.

The incident comes less than a week after a 40-year-old woman was taken to hospital with stab wounds after an alleged assault in Adamsdown.

No links between both incidents have been made.

One man from the London area was charged with with Section 18 Wounding in relation to the incident on Friday night. Three other men, aged 42, 25, and 23, have been released on bail pending further enquiries following the Friday incident.

During yesterday’s incident, a police helicopter was used to monitor the area.

A police spokesman said later that two men had been arrested on suspicious of affray.

A 26-year-old man was being questioned by officers, while the second man was at the University Hospital of Wales in The Heath.

Roads were closed in the immediate vicinity of yesterday’s incident. But the roads were later re-opened as police carried out out inquiries in the area.
