Popular coffee shop has reopened

-

CARDIFF coffee shop Penylan Pantry has reopened for the first time since lockdown began.

The popular eaterie on Kimberley Road had been shut since March 23 when the Welsh Government introduced lockdown measures requiring people to stay at home, except for very limited purposes. But it reopened again yesterday. Meanwhile Secret Garden Cafe in Bute Park will reopen today.

Penylan Pantry will be open from 9am to 4pm Wednesday to Saturday, serving takeaway food and drinks, freshly baked bread, cheese, Welsh eggs and locally sourced fruit and veg and plants from Blasus.

Extra measures will be put in place to help keep staff and customers safe. These include: takeaway and cashless payments only; only two households inside at one time; sanitise hands on entry and when leaving; and no tables.

Secret Garden Cafe will be open 10am to 5pm, Thursday to Sunday, depending on the weather.

Extra measures will also be in place to help keep staff and customers safe. These include: takeaway and cashless payment only; a reduced menu; no “made to order” food; only two adults per group allowed in at one time; cashless payments only; and toilets will remain closed.

Penylan Pantry’s owners said they had been looking forward to welcoming people back, adding: “Please be patient and bear with us in this time of reopening as the pandemic is very much not over.

“We need to keep you and our staff safe, so we ask that you please follow the safety information in our posters below and also the signs in our venues and listen to the information given by the staff.”
