A TEENAGER sent naked photographs of his ex-girlfriend to her family and work colleagues and posted them on Facebook and Instagram after hacking into her social media.

Cory Huxter, now 20, was 19 when he took control of his ex-partner’s social media accounts and used them to spread images of her which had been sent to him while they were still in a relationship.

His victim, who we have chosen not to name, first found out about naked photos of herself being posted online when she was on a night out, but she was unable to delete them as Huxter, from Porth, Rhondda, had changed her passwords and email address linked to her accounts.

The defendant also messaged men while pretending to be the victim and told them her home address so they could meet up with her to have sex.

A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday heard Huxter and his expartner had been in a relationship for two years before they split up.

Prosecutor Nuhu Gobir said that on November 2, 2018, the victim was on a night out when she noticed she couldn’t get into her Snapchat account. That evening she was contacted by a friend asking her if she had seen her Facebook story.

When the victim returned home she logged into her Facebook account and discovered nine naked photographs of her had been posted. She was able to delete these, but she was unable to access her Facebook Messenger account.

It later transpired Huxter had messaged the photos to between 60-70 Facebook friends, including her family members and work colleagues. She was unable to delete the messages.

Huxter had blocked her from the account and had been speaking to people on Instagram while pretending to be her.

Mr Gobir said the defendant had begun conversations with men, had given them her home address and messaged them saying, “Let’s f***”. There was no evidence to suggest anyone had gone to her home.

On December 3, 2018, Huxter changed the victim’s profile pictures on Facebook and Instagram to naked photos of her.

The defendant was arrested the same day and interviewed. He admitted to police he had posted the photos and claimed he had only done it because the victim had threatened to send someone to his home to beat him up and he wanted to “get back at her”.

He later pleaded guilty to two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs intending to cause distress.

In a personal statement read out on behalf of the victim, Mr Gobir said: “She has had to change her job due to work colleagues receiving photographs and she now feels anxious and unsafe in her own home due to her address being given out. Her friends and family being messaged has caused a lot of stress and she is now on anti-depressants.”

Defence barrister Hashim Salmman said the defendant suffered from “severe” mental health issues and had been sectioned following his arrest after making attempts on his own life.

Sentencing, Judge Daniel Williams said: “Your actions were designed to humiliate, embarrass and degrade her. The pre-sentence report says you are ashamed of what you have done and I sincerely hope you are.”

Huxton was sentenced to 26 weeks’ detention in a young offenders’ institute, suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and a 20-day rehabilitation activity.
