Recycling site open to cars with trailers

-

CARS with trailers are now allowed to visit the Bessemer Close Recycling Centre as Cardiff council eases its lockdown rules.

Households with cars and towing trailers can now book an appointment online to visit the recycling centre in Leckwith.

The maximum accepted trailer size is 1.2m x 1.2m (4ft x 4ft) and anyone visiting in a van or car with a trailer can book one visit a month.

Anyone visiting in a car can visit once a day, but can’t visit more than 12 times in one year.

The council reopened its recycling centres at the end of May but limited the items accepted and vehicles that could visit.

In June, it changed its rules to allow white goods, batteries, clothes, tyres and paint, and non-recyclable items such as polystyrene, shrink wrap, mirrors and blinds, as well as allowing vans to visit its Bessemer Close site.

To enable the council to operate safely and maintain social distancing, it has put in place the following rules:

■■Do not arrive on site until five minutes before your time slot; ■■Each person will be given a maximum of 10 minutes to offload on-site when visiting in a car. You will have 30 minutes for a van; ■■Bring your booking confirmation email and proof of Cardiff residency to show to staff.
