YOUNG people have been caught on camera throwing “rocks and bricks” at moving cars.

This shocking image was captured by a driver’s dashcam on the coast road section of Wentloog Avenue between Rumney and Peterstone in Cardiff.

South Wales Police said similar attacks had happened several times since the middle of June.

No one has been injured as a result – but at least nine cars have been damaged.

One person also suffered a broken ankle while getting out of their damaged vehicle.

In this image, six young people have their arms raised and appear to be holding something in a throwing position.

Police are now appealing for information about the young people in relation to criminal damage and described the behaviour as “not only dangerous” but “intimidating and unpleasant”.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Such behaviour is not only dangerous, it has been intimidating and unpleasant for those living in the area and for those who use this section of the road to go about their daily business.”

Anyone with information on the identity of those in this dashcam footage, taken from a private vehicle, or the individuals themselves is asked to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 2000230480.

Police have also launched an operation with the police roads unit and have increased daily enforcement activity as well as increased uniformed police presence in the area.
