Car dealer staff self-isolating after colleagues test positive
TWO members of staff at a large Cardiff car dealership have tested positive for coronavirus.
Thirteen staff members at the Renault Cardiff dealership on Penarth Road are now self-isolating as a result of their colleagues’ positive tests. Renault confirmed the cases and said the showroom has undergone a deepclean.
The dealership on Penarth Road remains open to the public and Renault said it already took precautions to prevent customers being put at risk. Around 60 people are employed there.
It comes as the rate of infection in the capital, based on a rolling sevenday average, stands at 148.7 per 100,000 people.
A Renault spokesperson said: “On Tuesday, October 6, we were advised that a member of staff from our Renault Cardiff dealership had tested positive with Covid-19.
“In line with government guidelines, we acted immediately to identify any other employees that had come into contact and asked 12 other employees to self-isolate for 14 days.
“One of these employees suffered symptoms while self-isolating, the individual made us aware as soon as possible and was tested positive. We have only had two confirmed cases. The dealership has subsequently undergone a deep sterilisation.
“All staff fully comply with PPE guidelines at all times, including wearing a face covering, maintaining social distancing and washing their hands on a regular basis. We also exercise temperature checking for all staff on a daily basis. Each customer contact point is distanced by two metres from staff. This is enhanced with Perspex screens.
“We take the safety of our colleagues, their families and our customers extremely seriously and believe we have acted swiftly to contain the situation.”
