Cardiff council detests motorists

-

BEFORE our councillors decide on what to do with Castle Street, I would like them to consider the following questions:

1. Why has a van manned by two or three people been parked at the bottom of Kingsway since the closure of Castle Street?

2. Why is the council allowing business-owners to park their cars on double yellow lines on Kingsway?

3. Why are Deliveroo moped drivers allowed to use Castle Street? I am not referring to cyclists.

I hate to think how much public money has been wasted on this pointless exercise, not only on the street furniture but the man-hours for the men in the lorry.

I have seen the illegally parked cars on Kingsway. How can that be allowed?

As for the Deliveroo moped drivers, they are allowed to do whatever they like without any legal recourse and it won’t be long before they are involved in an accident in this area, particularly in Queen Street.

We don’t need a Christmas market outside the castle as nobody living outside the city boundary can travel into Cardiff except to work and the stalls around The Hayes have worked well in the past.

I don’t believe Castle Street will reopen to cars as this council has demonstrated its hatred of motorists. The argument about pollution is fatuous as the current system has made this issue 10 times worse in other areas of the city due to the re-routing of traffic. Talk about fiddling while Rome burns.

I wonder how many councillors cycle to council meetings during the winter months. Don’t forget they have free parking for their cars outside City Hall and County Hall, or they could use Kingsway, which is fast becoming a free car park.

We are being controlled by a bunch of nincompoops who can’t spend our money quickly enough with little or no return. There is no hope as things currently stand.
