IT’S A DOG’S LIFE...

VERYONE knows someone who has become a dog owner over lockdown.

Covid 19 has given way to Canine 20, with the nation’s infatuation stepping up a gear and the pandemic leading to a doggy boom.

Cut to hundreds of families across the country struggling with the ups and downs of welcoming a new puppy into their home.

This series, packed of course with adorable scenes, follows a dozen pups and their families over the first crucial months.

From unexpected loo breaks in unexpected places to first walks and sleepless nights as the pups don’t sleep through, cameras capture the delight and the mayhem a new puppy brings.

And on hand to offer the families expert advice when doggy difficulties get too much, is dog behaviourist Louise Glazebrook.

“This just proves it’s like a newborn and has to be supervised all the time,” says Cheryl Fianko, as she cleans up puppy poo from her son’s bedroom. Their new puppy Sage is a bit more boisterous than they can cope with.

Elsewhere, Border Collie Meg has her work cut out for her as she joins Victoria, a 16 year-old novice shepherdess with a big ambition to train her own sheepdog. But Meg needs to lose her nerves around sheep.

And Great Dane Shelby joins a young family which already includes Mr Cooper, a threeyear-old dachshund.

The new pup is keen to be friends, but he’ll grow to double a dachshund’s height in a matter of weeks, and there’s no guarantee there won’t be friction.
