Hundreds more kids told to isolate

MORE than 400 children and teenagers have been told to self-isolate and learn from home after seven more schools were hit by coronaviru­s this week.

Cardiff Council said 11 new cases were reported in schools on November 19, eight among pupils and three staff.

As a result a total of 434 pupils and more than 20 staff have had to self-isolate.

The worst affected is Ton Yr Ywen Primary School where two members of staff and two pupils have tested positive for coronaviru­s leading to 222 pupils and 12 members of staff being told to self-isolate for 14 days. These are the affected Cardiff schools reported on November 19:

Ysgol Bro Edern

Two pupils have tested positive for Covid-19, one Year 11 and one in Year 12. As a result 87 pupils have been advised by Public Health Wales to self-isolate for 14 days after they were identified as close contacts of the confirmed case.

Hawthorn Primary School

A member of staff in the after-school provision at Hawthorn Primary School has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, five pupils in Year 1 and three pupils in Year 5 have been advised by Public Health Wales to self-isolate for 14 days after they were identified as close contacts of the confirmed case.

Howardian Primary School

A Year One pupil has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result 61 pupils and five members of staff have been advised by Public Health Wales to self-isolate for 14 days after they were identified as close contacts of the confirmed case.

Radnor Primary School

A Reception class pupil has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result 20 pupils and four members of staff have been advised by Public Health Wales to self-isolate for 14 days after they were identified as close contacts of the confirmed case.

Ton Yr Ywen Primary School

Two pupils and two members of staff have tested positive for Covid-19. As a result 222 pupils in years 1 to 4 and 12 members of staff have been advised by Public Health Wales to self-isolate for 14 days after they were identified as close contacts of the confirmed case.

Whitchurch High School

A Year 13 pupil has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result 30 pupils have been advised by Public Health Wales to selfisolat­e for 14 days after they were identified as close contacts of the confirmed case.

Willows High School

A pupil in Willows High School has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result six pupils in year seven have been advised by Public Health Wales to self-isolate for 14 days after they were identified as close contacts of the confirmed case.
