Drama on streets of city as roads close for cameras
PARTS of Cardiff were transformed into a London street for a forthcoming Amazon Prime show.
The area around City Hall and Cardiff Crown Court was taken over for the second season of Alex Rider.
Images from filming yesterday show a red double-decker bus and black cab for scenes with the show’s star.
The show revolves around the world of Alex, an ordinary teenager who is enlisted to work on behalf of MI6, where he uses skills he didn’t know he had to become a spy.
The series is based on the series of spy novels by author Anthony Horowitz which spanned 10 novels.
In 2006, a film version of ‘Stormbreaker’ was released starring Alex Pettyfer.
In the Netflix show, Otto Farrant stars alongside ‘Line of Duty’ star Vicky McClure as Mrs Jones.
The first series aired in 2020 and it looks like its success has prompted a second series of the TV show. Filming for that has recently taken place in Cornwall.
On the other side of Cardiff, filming is also taking part for BBC’s Casualty.
Crews were spotted filming on Monday on Harbour Drive near the Norwegian Church and the Porth Teigr lock bridge.
A number of scenes were filmed outside the Coffi Co site and a road closure was in place.
The broadcaster confirmed the popular show is filming some scenes in Cardiff Bay this week.
It’ll involve “quite a big stunt” to coincide with character Lev’s (played by Uriel Emil) storyline, and will be seen on screens later this year on BBC One.
