One more death and 142 new cases
ONE more person has died with coronavirus in Wales, while the overall infection and test positivity rates remain well below key Welsh Government benchmarks.
The latest daily update from Public Health Wales (PHW) yesterday recorded 142 new positive cases in the latest 24-hour period, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 206,795.
The number of people who have died with coronavirus in Wales within a month of a positive test now stands at 5,455.
The infection rate across Wales is now 40 cases per 100,000 of population based on the seven days up to March 11, a rise from the figure of 39.1 reported on Monday but still well below the key Welsh Government benchmark of 50.
The percentage of tests coming back with positive results is now below the key 5% benchmark at 3.7% in the last seven days.
The latest data also shows that Wales has administered another 16,935 first doses of a Covid-19 vaccine and another 8,728 second doses.
The data shows that 1,139,866 people have now received a first dose and a further 272,983 have had both jabs.
Swansea saw the highest number of new cases reported yesterday with 19 followed by Flintshire with 15 and Anglesey and Newport with 11 each. All other local authorities reported fewer than 10 cases including Carmarthenshire with nine, Blaenau Gwent and Neath Port Talbot each with eight, Gwynedd with seven, Cardiff, Bridgend and Pembrokeshire with six each, Merthyr Tydfil, Wrexham and Vale of Glamorgan with five each, Conwy, Caerphilly and Rhondda Cynon Taf with four each, Monmouthshire and Torfaen each with two and Powys with one.
Both Denbighshire and Ceredigion reported no new cases in the latest 24 hours.
