WEBCHAT One year ago, the first person in Wales died with coronavirus

- Sarah Lannaghan

My 36-year-old brother was one of the 5,454 people who lost their life. His vaccination came two weeks too late in February this year. Ok yes he had underlying kidney problems (that he’d had since birth), but he should never have been taken so soon in his young life. He was a shielder who couldn’t shield (a forgotten-about category in my eyes).

I don’t think it’s time to be arguing amongst ourselves. If the government acted sooner they could have prevented the loss of lives. Be kind we don’t know what’s around the corner. Even those who have overcome the virus face complicated issues for example breathing difficult is as I saw first hand whilst in hospital over Christmas. Blood clots on their lungs aswell. Please don’t be angry but compassionate to those who have suffered. Take care everyone.

So sad. All the lives lost and families in terrible grief. My condolences to all those who have lost a family member, friend or colleague to Covid.

My brother lost his life recently to this horrible virus. My condolences to everyone who have lost a family member. May they all rest in peace.

No way was it. I worked in a care home and we had a lot of deaths before today a year ago but weren’t getting tested. Apparent chest infections. Deaths were before this and lots more should be added to the numbers. Janine Ratcliffe

A very sad year. They must never be forgotten.
