TEEN’S PLEA TO MISSING FATHER

- FFION LEWIS Reporter ffion.lewis@walesonline.co.uk

A HEARTBROKEN daughter has made a desperate appeal one year after her dad disappeared.

On the day he went missing, dad of two Jamie Moreno spent a normal morning at home with his daughter Tia.

In the two hours between her leaving and his eldest daughter Georgia arriving at his home, Jamie had disappeared.

That was a year ago – and he hasn’t been seen since disappearing from his home in Roath, Cardiff, on March 23, 2020.

To mark the anniversary, his heartbroken family have made a desperate appeal for Jamie to make contact.

In an emotional appeal to her dad, daughter Tia Moreno Rees, 19, said on behalf of the family: “We just want dad to know that we’re not angry with him at all we just want him back safe with us.

“The last year has been difficult not knowing what’s happened and we just want to be able to move forward.

“If he’s out there I just want him to know that we miss him and we love him and we just want him home with us.”

Jamie was living on The Parade, Roath before he went missing. His family say he has a distinctive walk that would be recognised by those who knew him.

He is described as being approximately 5ft 9in and usually wearing a beanie hat. He may have a beard at the time he went missing.

Jamie was 48 years old when he disappeared although he has now turned 49.

In an appeal to mark the six months of Jamie’s disappearance, South Wales Police released more details of the last time he was seen. They said that they believe Jamie left his home sometime after 1.15pm and was seen by a friend at about 2.45pm later that day not far away on Llanedeyrn Road.

Jamie was then matched on CCTV from a nearby school – the last confirmed sighting of him.

Jamie took his phone and wallet with him, but police say his bank cards haven’t been used since that day, which they consider to be a cause for concern.

Speaking of the past year, Tia said it was difficult now knowing what had happened to her dad or where he was.

“It’s almost as if it’s not real,” said Tia.

“It’s harder not knowing what’s happened or if he’s still out there. If we knew that he had passed then we could try and move on, it’s hard to move on not knowing.

“We all obviously want to think the best and hope that he is still out there but knowing he hasn’t accessed anything from his side like money is difficult to think that.”

Tia says that the family want to urge Jamie to come home so they can sort through any problems he may be experiencing together.

“If he is out there, I’d like to say that it’s fine to come home. We want him back with us, we wouldn’t be angry; we just want him back.

“I worry that he would be scared to come back now but I would like to say that we just want him back.

“I want him to know that everything is fine and sorted. We just want him with us and we can go through anything together.”
