A DAD found dead in a Cardiff street sustained blunt injuries to his head and chest, an inquest has heard.

The body of Tomasz Waga was found at 11.30pm on January 28 in Westville Road, Penylan.

An inquest into the 23-year-old’s death was opened at Pontypridd Coroner’s Court yesterday.

The hearing was told a member of the public walking their dog contacted South Wales Police after finding Mr Waga unconscious in the road. Officers attended and found Mr Waga deceased.

A post-mortem examination was carried on January 29. The inquest heard that the cause of death given was “pending further investigations, 1A blunt injuries to the head and chest”.

His address was given as Lamberhurst Road in Essex, and the inquest heard Mr Waga was born in Poland.

Two men have already been charged in connection with his death and remain in custody.

Coroner Rachel Knight gave her condolences to Mr Waga’s family and said the coroner’s investigations are now adjourned pending the ongoinng criminal investigation.

On Thursday, detectives from South Wales Police released the identity of two other men who the force said were wanted on suspicion of murder.

Nushi, 26, of Ninian Road, Roath Park, Cardiff, and Dhana, 27, of no fixed abode, were filmed on body worn camera when they were spoken to by police officers for an unrelated matter in December 2020.

In a statement released previously, police said they know the following about Nushi and Dhana: They are involved in the production of cannabis; they had links to a property on Newport Road where a cannabis factory was discovered shortly after Tomasz’s body was found; they left Cardiff on Friday, January 29; they have links to Lushnje in Albania; they also have connections in Yorkshire, specifically Bradford and Huddersfield, north west London and Bristol

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Mark O’Shea, from South Wales Police, said: “Tomasz was a much-loved son, brother, father and partner to his girlfriend.

“We know he had travelled from the Dagenham area on Thursday to 319 Newport Road in Cardiff.

“We believe that a disturbance took place at around 10.30pm at this location during which he was assaulted and enquiries are ongoing to establish how he then ended up in Westville Road where he was discovered.

“While two men have been arrested and charged in connection with his death, two further suspects – Josif Nushi and Mihal Dhana – are outstanding.

“Extensive enquiries have been carried out nationally to find these two individuals and we are liaising with the National Crime Agency.

“But we are now also appealing to the public for help and would urge anyone with information to please contact South Wales Police.”
