Housebuilder funds new eco-garden for school

-

CHILDREN at a primary school in Rhondda Cynon Taf will be learning about nature in a new eco-garden, thanks to a donation from a leading housebuilder.

Ynyshir Primary School in Porth has bagged £1,000 from Persimmon Homes East Wales through the builder’s long-running Community Champions scheme.

Each month Persimmon donates up to £64,000 to worthy causes.

The school is looking to develop its outdoor areas, including an eco-garden, where pupils will be able to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers.

Teacher Jade Davies said:

“We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for this generous donation.

“It’s going to give the children at our school the chance to experience opportunities they may not receive at home.

“It will be fantastic to see our children learning and playing outdoors. It’s great that a large company like Persimmon gets involved with the local community in this way.”

Victoria Williams, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support the school with this grant.

“Learning outside gives children the chance to engage with nature and to understand how food grows.

“We hope the pupils enjoy their new eco-garden for many years to come.”

Persimmon is building right across South Wales, including in Creigiau at its The Parish @ Llanilltern Village.
